Prior to this, she was an instructor at National Fire Academy, senior project manager of public education at NFPA, an assistant professor at Rhode Island College, and more. Karen holds a Bachelor's degree in Health Education and a Master's degree in Elementary Education and Teaching from Rhode Island College and a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Rhode Island.
