G4S Introduces Integrated Fever Screening Solution For COVID-19

G4S Integrated Fever Screening Solution helps detect elevated body temperature, which is a key symptom of COVID-19. Efficient It takes just a second to detect individual temperatures even in a group of people, thus preventing any delay or congestion while entering the premises. The temperature is detected in real-time. Accurate Temperature measured accuracy is +/- 0.3C Flexible The solution is easy to set up and deploy. G4S offers options for deployment depending on the requirements based on different scenarios. Contactless The temperature can be detected from a distance and it is accurate from a distance of 3 meters. This reduces the need for physical contact and keeps the operating staff safe.

G4S To Create Nearly 100 Security Jobs After Winning Sizewell C Nuclear Contract

G4S Secure Solutions UK will create almost 100 jobs for those living near Suffolk, close to the Sizewell C nuclear plant. EDF has awarded a £4.3 million interim security contract to G4S. So far, over 50 residents have applied for positions or are in the process of onboarding, including the Contract Manager, James Self. James, who was born and raised in Suffolk, joined G4S in 2018 as a Security Training Manager at Hinkley Point C, in Somerset, before transferring to work at the Sizewell C interim contract, as the Contract Manager. Job Recruitment  There are going to be plenty of opportunities for those looking to change careers or get on the employment ladder" “It’s so exciting to be working at Sizewell C and being involved in job creation for the people of Suffolk and East Anglia like myself,” said James Self, adding “There’s going to be plenty of opportunities for those looking to change careers or get on the employment ladder, and an experienced and friendly team supports them throughout their time with us." He continues, "The roles we are recruiting for are more than Security Guard. You’ll ensure the safety of our customers, contractors and their staff, their buildings, and assets while delivering excellent customer service in a safe and secure environment.” Sizewell C contract This contract for Sizewell C is expected to continue through 2023 and available roles will comprise vetting employees; managing access to the site in the access control team, monitoring surveillance systems, and the perimeter of the site, and being involved in incident management reporting. G4S is also implementing the Sizewell C Induction Team. Almost 80% of these new roles will be filled by workers who do not hold a Security Industry Authority license, meaning that they will gain a new qualification working for G4S funded by G4S. The working hours will vary depending on the role. Some roles will be Monday to Friday during office hours and others will be on shifts. Security services G4S has been working on a 10-year contract to provide security services during the construction of Hinkley Point C Since July 2015, G4S has been working on a 10-year contract to provide security services during the construction of Hinkley Point C, the first new nuclear power station built in Britain for a generation. Two years later, the same customer, EDF, awarded G4S a multi-million-pound contract, to provide facilities management services at the same site in Somerset, South West England. Job opportunities “For over a decade, G4S has been committed to securing the UK’s critical national infrastructure and we’re incredibly proud of our work in creating thousands of job opportunities for residents and sector specialists throughout the country,” said Alistair McBride, Strategic Account Director for G4S UK’s Nuclear Power and Utilities Sector. The construction of Sizewell C is expected to take 10 years. Once constructed the nuclear power station will provide low-carbon electricity for 6 million homes for at least 60 years.

G4S Designs Early-Warning Fire And Security System For Vita Baltic International

As one of the manufacturers of flexible polyurethane foam in Europe, The Vita Group has several production sites and UAB Vita Baltic International operates the largest foam manufacturing plant in the Baltics.  Its products are used in several applications including soft furnishings, mattresses and pillows, orthopedic accessories, and sound insulation products.  Foam blocks manufacturers At its large site just outside the village of Jurgiškiai in a rural area of the Alytus District Municipality, Vita Baltic International manufactures, stores, and distributes large foam blocks, serving several industries across Europe. The factory covers the area of more than seven full-size football fields. The company is focused on the sustainability of its foam and the site, which is powered entirely by renewable energy, also includes an innovation center. When reviewing their safety and security systems, the company wanted a partner they could trust to give them the peace of mind that their people, site, and assets were safe.  Early-warning fire safety Making sure their workplaces are safe and cause zero harm was central to Vita Baltic International’s requirement" G4S designed an innovative early-warning fire system and worked with the local Fire Brigade to test and implement it.  “Making sure their workplaces are safe and cause zero harm was central to Vita Baltic International’s requirement for their safety and security solution,” said Rimantas Grašys, Head of the Security Innovation and Technology Division for G4S in Lithuania. “They have had challenges in the past with fire risks and they knew that there must be a better way of doing things.” Foam block production process During the production process, chemicals are combined to make the foam, which expands significantly as it is heated to temperatures of up to 160 degrees celsius. Vita Baltic International creates different densities of foam, ranging from heavier building materials to soft furnishings, which have much higher air content.  “The most dangerous part of the process is the 20-hour period after manufacture when the foam blocks are left to cool but remain highly flammable,” said Rimantas. “They wanted an innovative way of spotting a potential risk before it's too late. The cubes can feel cold to the touch on the outside, while the temperature is still close to 100 degrees Celsius at the center.” Thermal imaging cameras G4S installed an integrated fire and security system which monitors the production line and the foam blocks G4S installed an integrated fire and security system that not only monitors the production line but also the foam blocks themselves, using more than 30 thermal imaging cameras in the designated 10 cold store cooling areas post-production.  “Our thermal cameras pick up quickly and before it’s too late the signs that a foam block may be at risk of self-ignition and our officers can raise the alarm,” said Edvinas Supranavičius, Sales  Manager at Alytus G4S. Edvinas is proud of having the opportunity to implement his innovative idea in the real world. Early detection and firewalls “The cameras analyze changes in temperatures and generate an alarm if those parameters are exceeded. We can also identify the irregular temperature of a foam block, which can be an early sign it is heating from the inside and we can react before even any smoke appears.” Each cooling zone is broken up with special firewalls to reduce the risk of a fire spreading and getting out of control. Hydrogen gas detectors and heat monitoring strips are also integrated into the solution. If a fire breaks out in one area, it can be quickly isolated. From an on-site control room, G4S security professionals observe the data from a safe distance and can react quickly.  Put to the test Vita Baltic International wanted its solution to have a sharp focus on all aspects of safety “Following the installation of our intelligent safety system, it was put to the test early on and it worked perfectly, preventing a fire. Our security evacuated everyone quickly and safely while the cube was extinguished,” said Edvinas. The site is a busy and dangerous one and therefore Vita Baltic International wanted its solution to have a sharp focus on all aspects of safety. On average 50 lorries arrive at the site daily to pick up deliveries to be sent out to customers across the continent.  Perimeter security, access control system G4S has installed video cameras on the perimeter as well as a card access control system to ensure that employees can enter the site quickly. Visitors are met at the gate by an officer and are escorted into the building where they are required to put on special safety boots and vests.  “Security is a top priority for us and our employees and a lot of attention is paid to it,” said Renatas Degulis, General Manager for UAB Vita Baltic International. Physical protection Degulis adds, “We have worked with G4S since 2011, they are a reliable partner: both in physical protection and the modernization and maintenance of security and fire protection systems. Together we have developed several innovative solutions.” “One of the most successful is the replacement of fire address sensors with smoke barriers and a bypass and communication system for physical protection.”
