G3 Systems handed over its Fire Protection Service (FPS) function to DEU (German Armed Forces) Air Operations Group firefighters, marking the conclusion of a continuous working relationship at the Mazar e Sharif (MeS) airbase which began on 21st November 2014. During the last 6 and a half years, G3 Systems Limited, working through the NATO Supply & Procurement Agency (NSPA), has successfully provided the DEU at MeS with continuous aviation and structural fire cover, ensuring all airfield emergency responses to ICAO CAT 9 requirements, along with structural firefighting response to all elements of the airbase infrastructure and personnel. Essential emergency service This essential emergency service provision has been achieved with a total of 59 staff delivering ARFF, Structural, Fire Safety and Emergency Vehicle Technician support to fulfill 24-hour coverage for the changing mission requirements, in this austere and often challenging environment. This essential emergency service provision has been achieved with a total of 59 staff G3 Systems has also trained 14 Afghanistan Civil Aviation Authority (ACAA) firefighters during an 18 month ‘on the job’ training contract, which resulted in the airport gaining ICAO certified and trained staff, available to provide fire cover for the civilian side of the Mazar e Sharif International Airport. This training comprised basic firefighting skills, specialized aircraft firefighting, incident command and management, technical rescue skills, working at height and driver training. Basic firefighting skills Commenting on the handover, Chief Fire Officer Derek Tomlinson said “I would like to thank everyone who has worked, assisted and been a part of the incredible journey over the G3 Systems MeS FPS contract. I would also like to dedicate this final message to the memory of our colleague Firefighter Myank Mishra, who very sadly lost his life to COVID-19 in India during the demobilization of this contract.” G3 Systems has also provided the FPS to the airbases in Herat and Kandahar and continues to support NATO and the ACAA in Afghanistan with FPS at Hamid Kharzai International Airport in Kabul.
C-TEC’s innovative ZFP addressable fire alarm system is protecting Big Padlock Wrexham, a high-tech self-storage facility in Wales. The company’s state-of-the-art Wrexham site combines a mixture of business centres, office space, warehouses and workshops and also offers bespoke facilities for architects, solicitors, tradesmen and eBay and Amazon sellers. Fire Protection And Security As storage areas are typically classed as high fire risk, careful consideration was given to fire protection and security on the site. The system features a powerful ZFP touchscreen-controlled 2-loop fire panel in the reception area, connected to a series of Apollo detectors and C-TEC’s high-performance EN54-certified sounder VADs throughout the buildings. Programmed for simultaneous evacuation, i.e., ‘one out, all out’, in the event of a fire, the system also interfaces to a sprinkler system to ensure that, if a sprinkler is set off, it will also activate the fire alarm system. A digital CCTV system, door entry system and 24/7 security/intruder system are also in operation at the multi-purpose facility. We’ve used C-TEC’s products for many years due to their quality, reliability and ease-of-install. The fact that they are a UK manufacturer and offer excellent technical support is a huge bonus.”

This is a new role focussing on the further international expansion of G3 Systems’ aviation and industrial fire protection services business, with an emphasis on development across the Middle East, Asia and the Americas. Chris joins G3 Systems having worked most recently in Business Development and Marketing for Devon and Somerset Fire & Rescue Service, where he oversaw the profitable growth of commercial training and Fire Protection Services. Formerly, Chris was the Marketing Director of global maritime supplies company Unitor AS, serving in Oslo, Norway and Long Beach, California, before returning to the UK to set up his own consultancy business. Structural and aviation fire and rescue services G3 Systems currently provide both structural and aviation fire and rescue services to both international national operating standards. Services include emergency dispatch and response, fire safety, fire inspection and investigation, equipment and vehicle maintenance, testing and compliance, firefighter training and CPD and Medical Crash Crew / Ambulance Services. G3 Systems provide site security services, emergency medical services and client training The organization is presently providing operational fire and rescue services at the four international airports in air bases in Afghanistan, covering both civil and military aviation and delivering cover for up to Category 10 aircraft on a 24/7 basis. In addition, G3 Systems provide site security services, emergency medical services and client training in emergency response procedures as well as through life logistics support via mobile Field Service Engineers and forward deployed engineers. Other deployments include the delivery of facilities and infrastructure projects in Kenya and the Falkland Islands.
