DHF Level 3 Award: Fire Shutter Compliance & Safety

Door & Hardware Federation (DHF) has announced that it has created a new Level 3 Award in Compliance & Safety of Fire Resisting Roller Shutter Doors training course. Launched in response to member feedback, the course provides a full day of learning, which is mapped to the National Occupational Standards for the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire-resisting roller shutter doors. It serves as a natural progression from DHF’s Level 2 Award in Industrial & Garage Door Safety, reinforcing safe and compliant practices.  Fire-resisting roller shutter doors The one-day course comprises five units and learners will complete a short exam following each The one-day course comprises five units and learners will complete a short exam following each. Participants will gain a thorough understanding of the legislation and standards applicable to fire-resisting roller shutter doors, along with effective mitigation strategies. The course will explore specific design considerations of a fire-resisting shutter upon deployment, and give an insight into the process and requirements of certification, including the relevant evidence for the performance of fire doors.  Extension to the TS 013 series Learners will also acquire knowledge of the installation, maintenance, and repair requirements for fire-resisting roller shutters, as well as the processes for dealing with non-compliance.  To complement the course, DHF has developed a new code of practice, TS 013-4:2025 – Code of Practice for Compliance and Safety of Fire Resisting Roller Shutter Doors. This extension to the TS 013 series, draws on applicable standards to assist all those installing, commissioning, repairing, and maintaining fire resisting roller shutter doors. The first course launches on 24th April and we are delighted to be able to offer this.” The price of the course includes registration for accreditation offered by the Awarding Body in the Built Environment (ABBE), ensuring that learners receive a recognized theory qualification.

DHF To Exhibit At The Security Event 2024

Tamworth-based trade association, the Door & Hardware Federation (DHF), has announced that it will be exhibiting at the Security Event 2024. The organization will be situated on stand 5/L24 and available to discuss membership and provide information on its training, including the program of one-day theory-based awareness training courses offered in collaboration with BRE that cover fire door safety, inspection, installation, and the ongoing maintenance of fire doorsets. DHF Supports Fire Door Safety Week 2023 On Its 10th Anniversary

Door & Hardware Federation (DHF) is once again demonstrating its continuing support for Fire Door Safety Week, a national safety awareness campaign that was first launched in 2013, and in response to a legacy of fire door neglect. The campaign aims to encourage a greater public understanding of the vital role that fire doors play in protecting life and property. Performance of a fire door In particular, the campaign aims to raise awareness of the critical role that fire doors play in the devastating event of a fire, ensuring that everyone, from the manufacturers and installers down to building owners and building users, understands their responsibilities when it comes to fire doors. The campaign also encourages building owners and users to check the operation and condition of their fire doors and have the confidence to report any issues they find that might impact the performance of a fire door in the event of a fire. objectives of Fire Door Safety Week DHF has collaborated with BRE to develop a series of one-day training courses around fire and safety Taking place from 25th to 29th September, with a number of events planned through the week, Fire Door Safety Week is owned and managed by the British Woodworking Federation (BWF) and is supported by a number of partners, including the Home Office’s National Fire Safety campaign, the National Fire Chief’s Council and London Fire Brigade. DHF continues to be a vocal champion for the objectives of Fire Door Safety Week, and a passionate advocate for third-party certification of the manufacture, installation, maintenance, and inspection of fire and smoke doors. As a regular supporter of FDSW, DHF has worked in collaboration with BRE to develop a series of one-day training courses around fire and safety. These comprise two-module training courses around fire door safety, inspection, and ongoing maintenance. DHF continues to be proactive in promoting these fire door safety courses.
