As China-Africa cooperation continues to progress and deepen, cooperation stories are continuously unfolding on the continent of Africa, and Chinese engineering machinery is also showcasing its capabilities in African infrastructure projects.

Recently, on the Rosso Bridge project in West Africa, ZOOMLION’s full-rotary drilling rig efficiently and reliably completed the piling task, helping the construction of the bridge foundation to steadily advance. The high-quality products and services provided by ZOOMLION have received unanimous praise.

Rosso Bridge construction

The Rosso Bridge will become an important hub of transnational trade trunk lines in Africa

It is reported that the Rosso Bridge, located on the Senegal River at the border between Senegal and Mauritania, is the first large-scale project jointly constructed by the two countries.

Once completed, the Rosso Bridge will become an important hub of transnational trade trunk lines in Africa, greatly saving cross-border travel time between the two countries and facilitating personnel and material exchanges.

To safeguard the local environment, the Owner has forbidden the use of chemical sludge for wall protection. Due to the sandy soil composition, the rotary drilling rig cannot be used due to the risk of collapse.

ZOOMLION’s full-rotary drilling rig selected

Originally, the client intended to drill holes with disposable casing and vibrating hammer; however, this approach proved excessively costly.

After a thorough consideration, the full-rotary casing drilling method was adopted with reusable casing to reduce costs, and the reputable ZOOMLION’s full-rotary drilling rig was selected for the operation.

Implementation of European standards

The ZOOMLION service team has rapidly completed the training of local construction personnel

Since the mobilization of equipment in February this year, the ZOOMLION service team has rapidly completed the training of local construction personnel to ensure that African workers can skillfully operate the full-rotary drilling rig.

The implementation of European standards that prohibit the use of chemical sludge in Africa necessitates the employment of full-casing technology.

ZRT260H full-rotary drilling rig

"The ZRT260H full-rotary drilling rig utilized on this occasion sets a benchmark pile as requested by the client, with a casing depth of 55 meters and pile depth of 52 meters. With a crawler crane, the rig excavates soil swiftly," remarked Tong Bing, a Resident Service Engineer of ZOOMLION in Africa.

He adds, "The client commented the machine’s robustness and stability, and the stable construction and achieved casing depth met their expectations."

Full-rotary, full-casing construction method

It has been reported that the full-rotary, full-casing construction method boasts advantages, such as high-quality pile construction, no mud pollution, and environmentally-friendly properties.

In the face of complex geological conditions and unique construction environments, ZOOMLION’s full-rotary drilling rig has demonstrated exceptional performance in various infrastructure projects, due to its high reliability, environmental-friendliness, powerful capabilities, and low fuel consumption, securing the first domestic market share and successfully exporting to the African market, where it has received favor from local customers.
