The Yvorra Leadership Development Foundation is accepting applications for the 2010 scholarship awards competition. The application deadline is September 30, 2010.

Since 1989 YLD has awarded more than $103,000 in scholarships to emergency responders throughout the United States. Any active duty career or volunteer member of the Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Medical Services may apply. In 2009, YLD issued three awards of $2,500.

The Yvorra Leadership Development Foundation was organized in 1988 in honor of Deputy Fire Chief James G. Yvorra, who was killed in the line of duty. In 2007, YLD established the Chief John Eversole Endowment for Hazardous Materials Responders. In 1995, the Foundation established the Donald E. Sellers Endowment for Emergency Medical Services.
