VESDA ECO by Xtralis was awarded ‘Best in Detection Controls, Devices and Sensors Award
Xtralis OSID won the 'Judge's Choice Award'

Xtralis, the global leader in developing early warning safety and security detection solutions, was honored for a second year in a row at the ISC West 2011 New Product Showcase (NPS). ISC West is the largest North American show in the industry, last year it was attended by 23,786. Xtralis won two major awards at this year’s event.

OSID by Xtralis was the prestigious winner of the ‘Judge’s Choice Award’ this week. OSID, Open-area Smoke Imaging Detection, overcomes the weaknesses of traditional detection solutions used in large, open spaces where standard sensitivity detection is required. In its simplest configuration, OSID resembles a beam detector but is an entirely new technology. The dual wavelength technology and imaging system, is immune to building movement, dust, steam, insects and solid object intrusions - the common causes of nuisance alarms using existing technologies – and, used in this way does not suffer from the sensitivity compromises traditionally found with similar techniques. Unlike Video Smoke Detection OSID is an absolutely calibrated device that works reliably in any environment – regardless of lighting, smoke type or airflows.

With OSID, installation is radically simplified by the use of advanced technology to all but eliminate alignment of the system meaning system commissioning is now measured in minutes rather than hours. Maintenance is achieved in minimal time without risk to system performance or alignment. Furthermore, to deliver further cost reduction and flexibility in deployment, a single OSID imager can be used with up to 7 wired or battery powered emitters to provide the only fully approved, all environment, 3D capable solution.

VESDA ECO by Xtralis was awarded ‘Best in Detection Controls, Devices and Sensors Award’. VESDA ECO offers a new approach to gas detection that delivers better gas detection coverage and performance when compared to conventional fixed point gas detection products. The inherent advantages of VESDA ECO are derived by leveraging Xtralis’ best in class Aspirating Smoke Detection products and their 24/7 active sampling pipe network. Additionally, significantly lower total cost of ownership, as high as 75% can be achieved. These saving are possible through the use of fewer detectors, lower installation materials and labor, lower long term operating and maintenance costs and the ability to eliminate the need for conventional gas controllers., VESDA ECO overcomes the fundamental limitations of fixed-point gas detectors to ensure early and reliable gas detection in a wide range of applications and environments.

“We are pleased to be recognised for our innovation and commitment to the public safety market through our efficient, high performing and cost-effective smoke and gas detection solutions,” said Ian Ehrenberg, Senior Vice President and General Manager - Americas of Xtralis. “Building upon VESDA, a legend in the life safety industry globally, Xtralis’ continues on its heritage to create winning products delivering a quantum leap in performance and value to the detection industry.”

Now in its 31st year, the New Product Showcase (NPS), held each year at ISC West, is sponsored by the Security Industry Association (SIA) to recognise innovative products, services and solutions in electronic physical security. Technologies showcased through this program are used in the protection of life and property in residential, commercial and institutional settings. This year’s competition included 85 entrants and was judged by a panel of judges comprised of dealers, specifiers, end-user companies, distributors and practitioners with a minimum of 10 years industry experience.
