Xlocate provides a cost effective way of locating, managing and controlling resources and assets around the clock in real-time using any commonly used web browser.

Thorcom Systems has announced the immediate availability of Xlocate, a new generation online asset tracking and management solution. Designed to improve process efficiency and service delivery through better utilisation of fixed and mobile assets, Xlocate will enable significant savings in operational costs to be made as well as meeting the requirements of organisations operating in mission-critical environments.

Xlocate provides a cost effective way of locating, managing and controlling resources and assets around the clock in real-time using any commonly used web browser. Delivered as a managed service, it enables the usage of these resources and assets to be optimized to increase efficiency and availability. This will enhance the capacity of every resource and enable organisations to further improve their responsiveness.

According to Simon Clifton of Thorcom Systems: "Xlocate provides true real-time monitoring of mobile assets to make the most efficient use of expensive manpower and vehicle resources. This innovative managed service will enable organisations to improve resource utilisation and achieve a rapid ROI without requiring a substantial investment."

Xlocate enables movements of resources to be checked against planned routes, ensures that work schedules are being delivered efficiently and confirms that vehicles always use the most direct route. This delivers significant cost savings in terms of fuel and maintenance and helps reduce the incidence of unauthorised usage. An additional replay facility provides greater insights into the sequence of events for post incident analysis supplemented by a comprehensive range of easy to read reports.

"Xlocate will also make a significant contribution towards helping the emergency services and other responders to meet government response targets," added Simon Clifton of Thorcom Systems. "It helps determine the manpower resource or vehicle that is best placed to respond in the shortest time and whether they are at predetermined standby points or en route to one after attending an incident."

Delivered as a managed service, this powerful SaaS (Software as a Service) solution supports a wide range of vehicle tracker units and other location-aware devices as well as GPS-enabled smart phones such as Blackberry, Apple and Android. It also supports business radio users including MPT1327 trunked radio, digital Private Mobile Radio and TETRA. Combining these diverse technologies and communications architectures into a single integrated solution eliminates vendor lock-in and ensures a rapid return on investment. GPRS links and airtime on national GPRS networks such as Vodafone and Orange can be bundled together to deliver further significant cost savings.

As a managed service, Xlocate is quick and easy to deploy and eliminates the need for the regular and costly onsite maintenance required by legacy solutions. The service also can be cost effectively enhanced to meet changing business or operational requirements.
