Safety tips to prevent Halloween hazards
The West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service urges people to celebrate the festival of Halloween safely
Scott Donegan, the Area Manager for Service Delivery at the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, said “We want everyone to have a happy Halloween this week, but we’re reminding people how easily fires can start at this fun time of year.”
The West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service urges people to celebrate the festival of Halloween safely, while adhering to the following safety tips:
- Using LED candles in pumpkins to avoid naked flames.
- Extinguishing any real candles thoroughly, particularly before bedtime, and not leaving them unattended.
- Being careful around flames, especially when wearing Halloween costumes, as this can easily set alight and catch fire.
Minimizing fire risks during Halloween celebrations
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service’s Area Manager – Service Delivery, Scott Donegan said, “This is the busiest time of the year for the fire service, particularly with bonfire night around the corner.
He adds, “We know that many people will want to make the most of the celebrations, after the restrictions of last year and we encourage everyone to work together to minimize fire risks.”
