West Chester Township’s new logo reflects the community’s strengths and personality in a modern way. “The previous logo has suited West Chester well and has been successful through more than 20 years of growth,” said Barbara Wilson, director of public information & engagement for the Township.

West Chester, however, has evolved and it was time to refresh. We wanted a logo that more clearly represented how our residents view our community and helps communicate more effectively about our strengths and the pride of our residents.”

Cross-Section Of The Community

The outcomes of this initiative helped capture the key strengths of the community

The new brand was rolled out the evening of August 13 with a series of updates to social media platforms, other digital assets and some signage. It will take some time to switch out all of the Township’s branded signage in a manner that is fiscally responsible. Spearheaded by township leadership in collaboration with Guide Studio, the branding campaign began in February and was completed in July after the development of a new logo.

The logo was developed based on input from a broad cross-section of the community, including residents, business leaders, and representatives from West Chester organizations and agencies. Each group was engaged in workshops and focus groups. The outcomes of this initiative helped capture the key strengths of the community and what makes West Chester a desirable place to live, work and play.

Rich Agricultural History

Stakeholders participating in focus groups labelled West Chester as: welcoming, enthusiastic, collaborative and proactive. The new logo is a modern take on the township’s clock tower on The Square @ Union Centre as a symbol of gathering, welcoming and community.

West Chester kept a dark green color, similar to the previous logo

This is balanced by the sprouting flower in shades of green that suggest a healthy and thriving community, born of a rich agricultural history. West Chester kept a dark green color, similar to the previous logo, and the new logo can still be displayed in an oval as a ‘tip of the hat’ to the community’s legacy, Wilson said.

Community’s Culture And Connectedness

West Chester is a township and you can feel that in the community’s culture and connectedness,” says Caroline Chaikin, communications director at Guide Studio, “but it’s actually more like a city in size and amenities. The new brand more closely represents the sophistication of West Chester, where it is today and plans for the future.”

With support from Township Trustees and staff, the new brand will be demonstrated and shared online, at public events, and in print materials to start. Residents and employees in West Chester can also snag some swag at a few remaining summer events, including The Takeover, the Keehner Park Concert Series and the West Chester Farmers Market.
