Wessex’s staff donned eye-catching garb in homage to the popular character from “Where’s Wally”

Staff at the Wessex Group made £475 for Children In Need - by being Wallies!

They donned the eye-catching garb in homage to the popular character from the “Where’s Wally” children’s books.

Bosses at the company based in Shaftesbury, Dorset, encouraged workers by donating £5 to the cause for every Wally who turned up.

The office was overrun with people dressed as the cult hero who is usually found carefully hidden in detailed pictures in the books.

At Wessex Group so many staff were Wallies that they played “Where’s the Suit?”

The fun-loving employees wore red and white hooped tops, bobble hats and round spectacles – so they were not difficult to find.

Everyone paid a minimum of £2 to dress like a Wally – and many acted like one, too.

The Wessex Group is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and each month is donating to charity, so Children In Need posed no difficulties.

Wessex Group Director Simon Morgan said: “Usually we have a dress down day when staff pay to come in what they like.”

“But this year the “Wally” theme emerged and everyone thought it would be fun to turn up dressed as the same thing.”

“Staff was so enthusiastic we said we’d make a donation for everyone who dressed as Wally – and we had almost 30 of them.”

“It was an odd day to be in the building with so many Wallies wandering about, but it was for a good cause.”

Wessex Group is a hardy collection of companies that installs and/or maintains electrics, heating, air conditioning, plumbing, renewable energy, commercial catering equipment and fire and security systems.
