WAGNER Rail GmbH, a provider of fire protection solutions for rail vehicles and a subsidiary of WAGNER Group GmbH, received another major order from Indian Railways at the end of 2022 to equip 1,100 rail vehicles with the TITANUS  PRO∙SENS® fire detection system.

The order volume from the state-owned Indian railway company amounts to several million Euros.

PRO∙SENS® fire detection system

The fire protection solution provider secured the first order for Indian Railways four years ago, after which further follow-up orders for equipping wagons with the PRO∙SENS® fire detection system were concluded in 2021.

With the additional order, the number of rail vehicles equipped with WAGNER fire protection technology at Indian Railways has increased to around 5,000 wagons. The total volume is in the double-digit million Euro range.

Dr. Markus Müller, Managing Director of WAGNER Rail GmbH, explains, "Our business in India has developed very successfully in recent years despite difficult market conditions and will continue to develop sustainably in the future."

He adds, "Our partner JK EXIM Pvt. Ltd., based in New Delhi, has built up a reliable and experienced team on site that only installs WAGNER systems in the trains. Market access through this local partner is an important key to success for us."

Anish Gupta, Shareholder and Managing Director of JK EXIM Pvt. Ltd. and Wagner's Partner in India, said, "WAGNER's fire protection solutions meet the requirements of the latest fire protection technology in rail transport to the highest degree."

He adds, "Thanks to the high sensitivity of the aspirating smoke detectors and the resulting early and reliable detection of fires, appropriate countermeasures can be initiated in the rail vehicles at a very early stage in the event of an incident. This was the decisive argument for Indian Railways when awarding the contract."

TITANUS PRO∙SENS® aspirating smoke detector

In addition to protecting people, the main protection goals of holistic fire protection solutions for rail vehicles are to avoid operational interruptions and to protect investments, material assets, and infrastructure.

The TITANUS PRO∙SENS® aspirating smoke detector is used to monitor large areas and, thanks to its high sensitivity and resistance to false alarms, is particularly suitable for use in rail vehicles even under difficult environmental conditions. The system detects a fire early on so that affected areas can be evacuated in good time in the event of a fire and the fire can be fought in a targeted manner.
