WAGNER has been active in the field of technical fire protection systems for 40 years. The German family business has its own research and development department and has more than 700 patents in its portfolio. Driven by its own desire to continue to advance the topic of safety, the company is involved in working on standards and in various committees.
For example, WAGNER is active in the fire alarm systems specialist group of the ZVEI (Central Association of Electrical Engineering and Electrical Industries) and in the special extinguishing systems and control specialist groups of the bvfa (Federal Association for Technical Fire Protection).
Aspirating smoke detectors
These not only develop the DIN standards for their respective areas, but also help shape the EN and ISO standards. WAGNER participated in the ZVEI working group to create the ZVEI information sheet on the use of aspirating smoke detectors. This is aimed at installers and summarizes and explains the normative requirements for the planning, commissioning and maintenance of aspirating smoke detectors.
As a technology and market leader for active fire prevention using oxygen reduction, WAGNER is heavily involved in the design of the associated standards and guidelines. For example, the company has published an information guide on the subject of working in oxygen-reduced atmospheres in a working group together with the DGUV, the umbrella organization of German statutory accident insurance.

In addition, through membership in the bvfa, WAGNER's many years of international practical experience are fed into the working groups of bvfa and VdS. This led to collaboration on the creation of the VdS guidelines for the planning and installation of oxygen reduction systems.
This is already in its second version, while a first draft is currently being put in place for the oxygen sensors. At the European level, a first draft of an EN standard exists for planning and installation. A working group for the design of a uniform ISO standard was recently founded. Since WAGNER in particular is involved in the development of new systems as an industrial technology leader, helping to shape such standards is a particularly outstanding aspect of its own work.
Suitable fire protection systems
Not only are there inconsistent regulations within the EU, the discrepancy is particularly large between Europe and, for example, the USA or Asia. For some areas, such as a UL listing for oxygen reduction systems, there is only an initial regulation for system testing (outline of investigation) in the USA. Installers and planners are unsure because the lack of international standardization makes comparable planning of suitable fire protection systems difficult.
The creation of uniform standards is intended to gradually create a comparable and uniform safety standard worldwide. WAGNER, as an international plant manufacturer, is actively supporting this project.
