Singapore Civil Defense Force had approved the active fire prevention technology as an alternative to sprinkler systems

The fire prevention system provides advantages like low capital cost, improved storage capacity etc.

A milestone for the WAGNER Group GmbH: fire protection expert from Langenhagen, Germany, establishes first active fire prevention system OxyReduct® in Singapore for protecting a cold store. With this the company does not only expand its portfolio, but actively gains a foothold in the Asian market. On 1st of December 2014 those responsible for the project “Jurong Cold Store” and WAGNER representatives signed the contract for the new fire prevention system – a successful conclusion after intensive research and offer analysis. In 2016 the 77,000 m3 new cold store for fish and seafood will start to operate and be run at a temperature of minus 18°C.

First contact between WAGNER and Jurong Cold Store was made in January 2014. Contrary to standard practice in Singapore Jurong rated the mandatory sprinkler systems to be afflicted with too many disadvantages. Searching for an alternative it came across WAGNER’s OxyReduct® fire prevention solution. Being convinced of the advantages of active fire prevention providing low capital cost, improved storage capacity, prevention of collateral damage after release of false alarms, prevention of damage of stored goods – the company decided in favor of fire protection solution made in Germany.

A further good reason to choose Wagner’s OxyReduct® solution was incidentally provided by the fire authorities, Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF), who had approved the active fire prevention technology as an alternative to sprinkler systems already. Like the VdS Schadensverhütung GmbH in Germany the SCDF imposed the condition that an early fire detection system must be installed in addition to the OxyReduct® system WAGNER provides a custom-made solution that ensures overall protection with its highly reliable and sensitive TITANUS® aspiration smoke detectors.

For Frank Siedler, Sales Director International, the project is the initial spark for introducing OxyReduct® to further applications in Singapore and Asia. To write the success story and to live up to the quality promises to the Southeast Asia region a local presence is required. “We are now tackling the next task, it is our intention to provide in the medium run Service and Maintenance for the ‘Jurong Cold Store’ project with our own presence, a WAGNER dependance, in Singapore.”

WAGNER stands for planning, development, engineering, service and maintenance based on the principle “everything from one source”.
