RescueSim is an incident command simulator for emergency responders and fire and rescue services

The UK awarding body LASER has certified the RescueSim Virtual Incident Command training delivered by Peter Stanley Training. The RescueSim training is valued as two units at Level 2 in the UK Qualifications and Credit framework (QCF). Peter Stanley Training is an accredited training provider to over 36 Fire and Rescue Services in the UK and UK airport rescue firefighting services large and small.

Following a thorough certification process by LASER Learning, one of the awarding bodies accredited to certify learning against the QCF, the training course using the RescueSim simulators was accredited as equal to 20 hours of guided learning. The combination of Peter Stanley Training and RescueSim enables fire and rescue services and the airport rescue fire fighting services to access a complete training package including preparation, assessment and certification.

RescueSim is developed by VSTEP and is an incident command simulator for emergency responders and fire and rescue services. It allows emergency crews to virtually train and experience a diverse range of incidents as they would in real-life. They assess the situation and determine the best response strategy, implement it and then observe the consequences of their decisions and consider effectiveness during post incident debriefing. Useful for training any thinkable incident, RescueSim has specialised modules for motorway and traffic incidents as well as incidents at airports, ports, industrial and offshore sites.

Peter Stanley, MD at Peter Stanley Training: “The accreditation of the RescueSim facilitator course will be a useful addition to any UK fire and rescue service users incident command training strategy. Combined with our Incident Command Assessor qualification it will enable a robust, effective, fair and verifiable delivery of training and assessment of incident commanders, in an environment where accreditation and verification are the basic benchmarks of a quality incident command system and external scrutiny/challenge of fire service command competence is common”

Peter Stanley Training will present this new LASER certification for its RescueSim Training Course at the International RescueSim User Conference which will take place at the Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service on October 30th, 2014.
