Chubb Fire has recently been awarded an updated fire extinguisher contract with YPO

Chubb Fire has recently been awarded an updated fire extinguisher contract with Yorkshire Purchasing Organisation (YPO) toinclude an extended range of fire safety equipment and services. Chubb Fire is part of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp.

YPO, the UK¹s largest local authority purchasing consortium, awarded the initial contract to Chubb Fire for the servicing and supply of extinguishers. The contract has since been readvertised to include the supply and servicing of fire blankets, buckets and hose reels in addition to the installation and maintenance of fire alarm systems, fire risk assessments and fire training.

Following many years of good service, Peter Eady, Engineering Technician at City of York Council was pleased to be able to continue the good working relationship: The organisation within Chubb Fire is very good which helps provide a very smooth and efficient service.

Chubb provides us with fire fighting equipment for 200 sites and we never experience any problems. In particular we are very pleased with the engineers and their knowledge of the products, and the invoicing is speedily handled. Engineers are also required to carry out risk assessments, and maintain sprinklers and fire-alarm systems.

Ian Bell, Health and Safety Advisor at Wakefield Metropolitan Council explains that Chubb's ability to manage its significant account has helped him considerably: I perform all the administrative tasks when it comes to the buying and selling of hose reels for around 500 sites for the council, he says considering the size of the account, and that I am the only person who manages it, the process and relationship work well.

The equipment we purchase always works to a very high standard and we are pleased with our relationship with Chubb.

Helen Wardman, Procurement Officer for YPO explains: ³When awarding a contract YPO always looks at the Œwhole life¹ costs to the customer. Chubb¹s tender was very comprehensive. They scored well on price, service and the ability to offer a full range of products and services covering everything from fire prevention, detection and containment to escape systems. This, coupled with their performance over the life of the earlier five-year contract, gave us the confidence to reaward the contract to them for a further four years.²

YPO provides a professional procurement service that allows its public sector customers to enjoy cost and efficiency savings through access to a wide range of fully managed framework agreements covering facilities management, waste, buildings, highways, energy, fleet and office & business machines. As a member of Pro5, YPO collaborates with other public sector buying organisations to provide local government bodies with nationwide access to a portfolio of best value contracts.
