The Vimpex Volt Drop Calculator is an invaluable aid for any fire system designer

Vimpex Limited, the leading manufacturer and distributor of fire alarm and evacuation products, has developed an innovative circular slide rule for calculating cable volt drop.

It is an ideal tool for fire system designers and engineers – to receive a FREE calculator simply visit www.vimpex.co.uk/calculator or call +44 (0) 1702 216 999.

The Vimpex Volt Drop Calculator helps determine the voltage drop encountered for a given current loading and cable length. The voltage drop that can be tolerated is dependent on the specification of the equipment used. It can also be used to determine the maximum number of sounders that can be connected to a cable of a given length (resistance), to achieve a specified volt drop. Conversely, it can be used to determine the maximum cable resistance (and thus length) permissible for a given number of devices to achieve a specified volt drop.

The calculator is logical and straightforward to use and is supplied with comprehensive instructions, including several examples to work through – it’s an invaluable aid for any fire system designer.

Vimpex are acknowledged experts in voice sounder and audible/visual evacuation technology. The Fire-Cryer® range of voice sounders is testimony to Vimpex's enthusiasm for innovation and a fresh approach to evacuation. From its highly efficient distribution warehouse, Vimpex can supply this complete range of voice sounders, audible and visual alarms and accessories as well as specialist systems such as linear heat detection and Hydrosense water detection.
