A long-standing UK bridge parapet manufacturer unveils a new brand identity to reflect its prominent position in the highway safety industry. Varley and Gulliver, which produces bridge parapets, pedestrian barriers, and passive sign supports, has undergone a complete brand refresh including a new, modern logo.

For the last 60 years, the company’s products have played a vital role in minimizing the risk of road collisions and reducing the impact in the event of a crash.

New business group

Varley and Gulliver, based in West Bromwich, is part of Hill and Smith Holdings PLC, an international group of companies operating within the infrastructure and galvanizing markets. The company’s products have been installed worldwide, including pedestrian parapets at the iconic Sheikh Zayed Bridge in Abu Dhabi, where the rails were designed to resemble an airplane wing, the Erskine Bridge in Scotland, and at the Sitra Causeway in Bahrain.

Hill and Smith announced that it had formed a new business group, named VRS Solutions Group

In May 2021, Hill and Smith announced that it had formed a new business group, named VRS Solutions Group, bringing together Varley and Gulliver, Asset VRS, Hardstaff Barriers, and Hill & Smith Barriers. The move consolidated all existing UK Hill and Smith Vehicle Restraint System (VRS) subsidiaries, connecting all temporary and permanent products and services. Thanks to this new arrangement, the operation of Varley and Gulliver will now be overseen by the VRS Solutions Group Executive Leadership Team.

Highway safety industry

As a result, the level of service provided to customers will be strengthened and the supply of high-quality parapet and barrier systems to the road network will be enhanced. Varley and Gulliver employs some of the UK’s experts in the development and deployment of parapets and other highway safety products.

Dave Todd, Managing Director of Services at VRS Solutions Group, said, “We are delighted to unveil the new Varley and Gulliver brand which reflects the company’s prime position in the highway safety industry. As part of VRS Solutions Group and with the support of its loyal and dedicated workforce, the company has a very exciting future ahead.”
