EADS Defence and Security welcomes Fire Ministers comments on FiReControl programme.
EADS Defence & Security (DS) has welcomed the comments made by Fire Minister for England, Bob Neill MP, with reference to the ongoing FiReControl programme. The comments were made in a recent speech to the Fire and Rescue Conference in Harrogate.
The Minister said: “It was time to put FiReControl on a sound and stable footing, and that the project should be delivered to time, to cost and to quality.” FiReControl is designed to provide a resilient national network of control centres, delivering much needed modernisation and increased capacity for England’s fire and emergency response infrastructure.
DS supports the government’s position, acknowledges the importance of the Select Committees recommendations and is committed to meeting its obligations to the Fire and Rescue Services as well as central government.
Robin Southwell, CEO of EADS UK, commented: “We understand and appreciate the importance of this programme to the English Fire and Rescue Services and we welcome and endorse the Ministers remarks in pledging our unfailing commitment to this vital project. The more we engage with stakeholders and demonstrate the benefits of the system - and the steps we are taking to deliver - the greater confidence and momentum is achieved.”
He added: “Our strategy is a simple one, prioritise delivery, adapt for flexibility and provide evolution for the future. Under each of these areas we have real plans that will not only ensure a smoother transition to a fire control infrastructure but also provide significant improvement in local command and control. This will be delivered through a true partnership to the end user whilst offering significant savings both now and through time.”
