The UK is also keen share its experience of managing security programmes while hosting major events and protecting critical national infrastructure from the threat of terrorism. The UK has also extensive experience in securing maritime and land borders and in aviation security and looks to work closely with the UAE in this important and growing sector.

Commitment to support Expo 2020

The British Prime Minister has outlined the UK’s commitment to supporting Expo 2020. “We look forward to working together with the organising committee to support their collaborative vision of ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’.”

The UK team is led by Richard Freeman, Senior Police and Security Adviser in the Department of International Trade’s Defence and Security Organisation (DIT DSO).

Richard Freeman said:

“The UAE is an important strategic partner and our aim is to continue to deepen and strengthen our security relationship. Intersec 2017 gives us an important opportunity to discuss security challenges and issues faced by both our countries with the aim of sharing best practice and finding joint solutions. I am very keen that the significant presence of UK companies creates the opportunity of long term industrial partnerships in the UAE so that we can continue to share knowledge, understanding and technology that can only strengthen our ties”.
