In June 2022, UKAS launched its online database of accredited management system certifications. UKAS CertCheck is a free-to-use and publicly accessible tool, allowing users to quickly search and verify the validity of claims of UKAS-accredited certification.

Commonly searched standards include:

  • ISO 9001 (Quality Management)
  • ISO 14000 (Environmental Management)
  • ISO 45001 (Health and Safety Management)

Over 15 other international standards and schemes can also be confirmed on UKAS CertCheck. The CertCheck project is an important element of UKAS’s strategic commitment to investing in the effective use of technology, enhancing confidence in and the efficacy of accredited services.

Since the launch of CertCheck three months ago, the database has grown to include over 425,000 accredited certifications from over 285,000 certified entities.

Mandatory requirement for accreditation

Users can be confident about the results returned by CertCheck when searching for management system certifications because the uploading of accredited certifications has become a mandatory requirement for accreditation in this area.

Jeff Ruddle, UKAS’s Strategic Development Director, commented on this factor: “We felt it was very important to make the uploading of management systems certifications mandatory, to ensure dependable results and give the database a truly meaningful purposeOne of the things that has been most gratifying about this project has been the collaborative spirit with which our accredited Certification Bodies (CBs) have responded, working really hard to implement processes to get their data into the system.”

Accredited status of tracked certifications

A key part of CertCheck is the power to track the accredited rate of the diplomae the supply chain

A key feature of CertCheck is the ability to track the accredited status of the certifications the supply chain hinges on. Organizations with large and complex procurement processes depend on accredited certification to ensure a reliable network.

It is completely free to register for an account with CertCheck, after which they can set the alerts to receive notifications if there is any change in the accredited status of tracked certifications. Over a thousand users have now registered for this service to help protect themselves from fraudulent claims of certification and create a more robust supply chain.

Tracking of management systems

Paul Scully MP, Minister of State for Local Government, Faith and Communities commented on the launch of CertCheck: “This new service from UKAS will make it easier for businesses to ensure their suppliers are walking the walk when they talk the talk about holding accredited certification. It’s important that businesses and their suppliers meet the correct standards in the service or products they provide, and CertCheck will help them to verify just that.”

CertCheck enables the searching and tracking of management systems certifications issued all over the world and has transformed what was a two-stage checking process into a streamlined, automated process.
