Fairview Fire and Rescue in Monroe, North Carolina has increased its fleet’s firefighting power with the purchase of a new Toyne Pumper Tanker. Fairview received the high-capacity apparatus in mid-September. This addition will boost the fire defense of this robust department, which covers a nearly 35-square-mile district in North Carolina.

Pumper Characteristics

The new pumper tanker, built on a Peterbilt 367, 6x4 drive chassis, is powered by a Cummins ISX 600 horsepower engine and an Allison 4000 EVS transmission. Combining pumping performance with large-scale water storage, Fairview’s apparatus has the versatility to take on any situation. The UPF tank holds an impressive 3,500 gallons of water, which the Waterous CSU pump is able to output at 1,500 gallons per minute.

Providing Emergency Services

Fairview Fire and Rescue is situated in the southwest corner of North Carolina. The department serves approximately 5,000 residents in the Union County communities of Fairview and Goose Creek. Providing both fire protection and first-response emergency medical services, Fairview received 270 calls for service in 2017. Fairview Fire and Rescue is a combination of paid and volunteer staff, with around 40 members.

We were happy to work with members of Fairview Fire and Rescue to build an apparatus that meets the needs of their department,” said Michael Schwabe, president, and CEO of Toyne, Inc. “This pumper tanker will help them protect their communities even more, and we are proud to be a part of that.” Melton Fire Group, a Toyne dealer based in West Jefferson, North Carolina, sold the pumper tanker to Fairview Fire and Rescue.
