The design of firefighting systems in railway environments is highly critical in the limited space available for the storage of extinguishing agents: passenger cars, driver's cabs, engines, electrical panels and control panels are environments that are difficult to protect as they are characterized by spaces already strongly "compressed".

The need to maximize useful spaces implies a search push towards dimensional optimization.

Pursuing this objective, Tema Sistemi, a company specialized in the design, production and installation of firefighting systems, has developed for the Indian Railways, a solution that allows one to optimize these spaces thanks to the use of twin-fluid technology which combines water and nitrogen.

Extinguishing agent With nitrogen and water

In fact, unlike the other technologies on the market that use nitrogen as a water propulsion, this solution simultaneously exploits the cooling and turning off power of the water and the inerting properties of nitrogen, allowing to use less water and save space.

In collaboration with the Indian partner Chaitanya Electricals Pvt., the company has provided twin-fluid systems intended for the protection of the passenger cabins of Bilaspur's South East Railway, the Kapurthala Rail Coach Factory, the Raebareli Modern Coach Factory and the Carriage Work Mumbai shop.

The systems were supplied following the approval by the Research Development and Standards Organization (RDSO) of Manak Nagar - Lucknow, the research and development organization of the Ministry of Indian Railways.
