The clubhouse at Beaverbrook Golf Club in Leatherhead, Surrey, United Kingdom (UK) was destroyed by a catastrophic fire on the evening of Monday, 7 March, fortunately causing no injuries.

Firefighters were called to the scene at 10 pm, with eight fire engines in attendance. The fire was found to have caused damage to 'the entirety of the building and its basement'.

Surrey Fire and Rescue Service have not yet revealed a cause of the fire at this point, and while an investigation has been launched, it is not yet thought to be suspicious.

clubhouse

The club is well-reputed as one of Britain’s premier high-end golf destinations. The clubhouse was purpose-built in 2018 after a £90 million refurbishment and has hosted some of sports biggest names, including footballers Harry Kane and Peter Crouch.

The site is the former home of press baron Lord Beaverbrook, which historically hosted guests such as Sir Winston Churchill and Elizabeth Taylor. Membership in the golf club is understood to cost more than six figures.
