Fire Vulcan LED® is lightest, most compact lantern in its class

Streamlight® Inc., a leading flashlight manufacturer for fire and EMS uses, has introduced the Fire Vulcan® LED, an ultra-light rechargeable lantern featuring a C4 LED for extreme brightness.

Streamlight's newest lantern delivers a light intensity of 80,000 candela (peak central intensity), and, through the use of nanotechnology cell battery technology, weighs only 1.85 pounds, making it the lightest, most compact rechargeable lantern its class.  The Fire Vulcan LED also features two rear tail lights, enabling firefighters and rescue workers to be seen no matter which direction the light is shining, and a new programmable feature that lets users select the order of eight separate functions.

"The Fire Vulcan LED uses a C4 power LED and special reflector optics to produce a piercing white light that cuts through even the thickest smoke, surpassing all other portable rechargeable LED lanterns," said Streamlight Chief Operating Officer Ray Sharrah.

"Because the light incorporates ultra-light lithium ion nanotechnology cell batteries, it also is nearly 50 percent lighter than its halogen counterpart, and offers unprecedented operating flexibility, including superior performance in a wider temperature range.  The result is the most compact, versatile tool on the market today for operating in smoke-filled or extremely low light conditions."

Sharrah said the light's textured parabolic reflector produces a tight beam with optimum side illumination to aid in navigation.  The lantern incorporates an unbreakable C4 LED, featuring up to three times the output of previous LEDs, with a 50,000-hour lifetime.  It also includes two ultra- bright blue rear tail light LEDs, ensuring that firefighters will be seen from behind, even in thick smoke.

A momentary push and hold toggle switch provides access to eight modes of operation, while allowing users to select the programming order.  The light, which uses two lightweight lithium ion nanotechnology cell batteries, fits all existing Streamlight Vulcan chargers and recharges in five hours.

Measuring 7.5 inches long, 5 inches wide and 6.5 inches high and weighing 1.85 pounds, the Fire Vulcan LED features a high-impact, ABS thermoplastic housing in high-visibility orange and a rubberized cushioned-grip handle for comfortable use.  O-ring sealed to resist moisture, the rechargeable lantern is available with either a standard AC/DC charger, or a 12-Volt DC vehicle-mounted direct-wire charging rack for greater charging convenience and accessibility.

Both models are equipped with a quick release buckle shoulder strap for easy carrying and feature Streamlight's limited lifetime warranty.  The charging rack meets the requirements of NFPA 1901-12-1.7 mounted in any position. Both the standard and vehicle mounted systems come with Streamlight's ‘Limited-Lifetime' Warranty.
