WYFRS recommendations

To reduce the likelihood of damage from accidental fire, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS) recommends getting the system serviced every three to six months depending on usage and frequency.

Service Delivery Area Manager - Scott Donegan, said “Excessive build-up of dirt in extraction systems can cause a variety of fire risks."

Scott Donegan continues, "The build-up of dirt can create blockages in the ducts and ventilation system, resulting in poor airflow. Without regular maintenance, the airflow in the kitchen will gradually reduce until it reaches a point where there’s no reasonable chance of preventing a fire."

He adds, "Regular deep cleaning ensures that any dangerous build-up is removed before it becomes a problem.”
