Sepura’s TETRA radios will be supplied to police, public transport, water utilities and the city’s technical management departments

The cluster of municipalities within the Nancy region in France - Communauté Urbaine du Grand Nancy (CUGN) - has chosen Sepura TETRA radios for its public service organisations.

The radios will operate on a digital infrastructure deployed by SYSOCO, Sepura's distributor in France. Grand Nancy joins the growing community of French municipalities - over ten to date - which have chosen SYSOCO and Sepura to help them upgrade their communications systems from analogue to digital.

Sepura's TETRA radios will be supplied to Grand Nancy's municipal police, public transport, water utilities and the city's technical management departments. Teams in charge of maintenance and surveillance of the municipalities' parks and gardens will also be among the first users to join the new digital network.

Sepura radios were selected following a challenging competitive tender where SYSOCO was the undisputed successful bidder.  Grand Nancy's technical procurement team selected Sepura's SRH, STP hand-portables and SRG mobile gateway radios.

The forthcoming migration to TETRA of Grand Nancy's transport services will bring major enhancements to the passenger support and information system. The new system will improve driver safety in the city's bus and minibus routes and will ensure real-time data transfer of bus route and passenger information displayed on digital message boards.

Pierre Letta, Marketing Manager for SYSOCO commented:  "Thanks to Sepura's SRG programmable keypads, bus drivers will be able to send a specific alarm message by pressing just one button: this will improve the speed and effectiveness of their response as well as their safety". Mr Letta went on to add: "Sepura's SRG radios will enable the transmission of GPS data from buses to an Automatic Vehicle Location system (AVL), offering real time information about bus locations, plus statistics for route analysis and optimisation. The radios will also allow direct voice communications between the control room and bus drivers." Mr Letta concluded: "Sepura SRG radios are such a flexible and powerful platform that we are discovering new opportunities and applications all the time!"

The Grand Nancy urban group of municipalities, often called simply 'Grand Nancy', is located in the Meurthe-et-Moselle area within the Lorraine region of France. It is the ninth largest district in France and comprises 20 municipalities, 266,000 inhabitants and occupies a strategic position in the heart of Lorraine.
