Sepura unveils AppSPACE, an innovative applications environment for critical communications at Critical Communications World (CCW), Berlin.

AppSPACE delivers added capabilities to the current generation of Sepura radios, which includes the SC20, SC21 and HTT-500-2 hand-portables, and the MDT-500-2 mobile terminal. This provides a more flexible approach to providing customer-specific applications and enables firmware-independent deployment of bespoke applications to radios. Applications are deployed using Sepura's Radio Manager fleet management tool, ensuring that the process is simple, and completed in a cost- and time-effective manner.

Allowing Customised Applications

A key feature of AppSPACE is its ability to support multiple applications running concurrently - whether as a background task or those which directly engage with fleet radio users. Alerts and notifications ensure that both user and control room maintain continual awareness of critical information.

Users often need to adjust their radios based on specific requirements in the field"

Sepura's, Peter Hudson, who heads Global TETRA Products within the Hytera Group, said "Users often need to adjust their radios based on specific requirements in the field. The process for making these changes to radio functionality often involved long development cycles and waiting for major software upgrades for the radios. This upgrade cycle can potentially hinder mission critical users in keeping pace with technology, and functioning effectively in their roles. That's why we've developed AppSPACE, allowing customised applications to be added to the radios already in the field without disrupting any critical TETRA communications."

Custom-Designed Solutions

AppSPACE allows rapid deployment of custom-designed solutions which meet specific end user requirements. This can be demonstrated in the delivery of application-based tools which automate manual processes and common critical tasks, ensuring that defined situation-based operations are enforced on the radio. Examples include radio location and geo-fencing, user health monitoring or automatic switching to emergency talk groups.

Visit Sepura's stand (B40) at Critical Communications World (until the 17th May) to experience demonstrations of AppSPACE including proximity tags, biometric devices and Bluetooth® beacons; and discuss the types of applications you could deploy to support for your users.
