The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) announces that the next NVFC Recruitment and Retention (R&R) Experience will take place September 16-17, 2022, in Mesa, AZ. The inaugural NVFC R&R Experience took place in 2021.

This training event is an opportunity for fire and EMS personnel from across the country to participate in valuable classroom sessions on topics relating to volunteer fire and emergency department staffing as well as exchange ideas and best practices with their peers.

NVFC R&R Experience conference

The conference is open to all first responders nationwide but is targeted toward department leadership and recruitment personnel. More details, including a stipend program, travel information, and registration, will be available soon.

The NVFC is accepting proposals from qualified instructors and speakers for presentations to educate first responders about critical recruitment and retention issues in the fire and emergency services. Key topics include diversity and inclusion, work-life-volunteer balance, generational issues, and supporting your volunteers.

The NVFC has also partnered with the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) Volunteer and Combination Offers Section (VCOS) to offer an additional two days of free, optional training on September 18-19.
