Saint-Gobain's ONESuit® Pro gas-tight chemical-protective hazmat suit

ONESuit® Pro's increased shelf life improves longer-term cost-efficiency while ensuring maximum protection

Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics has extended the shelf life of ONESuit® Pro gas-tight chemical-protective hazmat suits from seven to ten years following accelerated ageing and resistance testing.

The ONESuit® Pro’s increased shelf life improves longer-term cost efficiency while ensuring maximum protection over a ten-year period for fire, chemical, military and industrial organisations.

The Coretech™ material that is used in ONESuit® Pro has been tested against harsh physical and climatic conditions to ensure that it maintains its high resilience, durability and flexibility performance levels and suffers no significant degradation.

"As the initial purchase price of a limited-life ONESuit® Pro suit is typically less than half that of a reusable suit, the extended shelf life to ten years of ONESuit® Pro will significantly reduce total cost of ownership for fire and rescue services," said Ian Hutcheson, Marketing and Development Manager, Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics.  "Essentially, this means no routine maintenance is required on the suits over the ten years after purchase. Moreover, as a limited-life suit should be disposed once contaminated, the fire and rescue services can replace contaminated suits and have 100% security that the new suit is in good condition - without the hassle of ensuring full decontamination, inspection, pressure testing procedures, not to mention organising repair of suits if necessary."

ONESuit® Pro is lightweight and versatile, engineered with Saint-Gobain’s patented Coretech™ barrier membrane technology

The ONESuit® Pro is lightweight and versatile, engineered with Saint-Gobain’s patented Coretech™ barrier membrane technology for maximum protection against the permeation of chemical and biological substances in both liquid and vapour form. Certified to both EN 943-1 and EN 943-2, suits are available in ET (emergency team), Industrial and CBRN versions for chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear situations.

Along with its robust physical attributes, the ONESuit® Pro also incorporates the most advanced exhaust valve technology. The technology enables the garment to be inflated by retaining exhaled air from the Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) to create a comfortable distance between the user and the material. By lessening the pressure of the direct weight of the suit, comfort and mobility are enhanced as the suit is kept well above the helmet of the user and good visibility is ensured.

The ONESuit® Pro is designed with a completely sealed construction of exhaust valves. The closed construction valves do not require any annual or routine maintenance and are tamper-proof. Key to this construction is the use of silicone rubber diaphragms to prevent inward leakage. As silicone is a strong, highly inert polymer, resistant to the effects of environmental exposure, the robustness and reliability of these critical valves is a major advantage of ONESuit® Pro eliminating any need for routine replacement and ensuring dependable performance throughout the ten-year shelf life.
