cause of the fire and damage

Unfortunately, the fire caused the ceiling of the structure to collapse and ultimately caused in excess of $2 million in damage to the research center. The SACFS crews ensured that the historic Struan House was totally unaffected by the fire at the nearby research center.

The cause of the fire is unknown and fire cause investigators will attend the scene on Saturday morning. The SACFS crews were assisted by MFS, SAPOL, SAAS, and PIRSA.
