On the occasion of the general meeting of Uman members, Roberto Borraccino (Tema Sistemi SpA) was elected as the new president of Uman, the national association of fire and safety companies, federated with Anima Confindustria. The office will last for two years. Roberto Borraccino succeeds Natale Mozzanica (Mozzanica & Mozzanica Srl), who will remain a member of the board of directors as past president.

Roberto Borraccino began his career at Eni in 1979, where he also held the role of fire emergency manager at the Taranto refinery. In 1990 he founded Tema Sistemi SpA, a company with 4 offices in Italy and 2 offices abroad, specializing in the design, production and maintenance of certified fire systems and products.

About a decade later, he created Tema Safety & Training Srl, a company specialized in training and consultancy in the sectors of major environmental risks. In 2000 he founded Sicurnet, the first Italian fire and safety network for the purchase of products and services distributed to regional dealers, while in 2011 he created the Temagroup Consortium, a general contractor consisting of a network of companies specialized in the fields of security, fire protection and the environment.

UMAN support equipment and components manufacturers

"The primary point of the objectives of the Uman association will be to provide support to all manufacturers of equipment and components in the internationalization and development processes in foreign markets", declares the new president Roberto Borraccino.

"The association must therefore be a point of reference, both foLr those who do not yet operate abroad and for those who are already present on these markets. By focusing on the Made in Italy brand, participation in fairs can be proposed through group shows and other support activities. Firefighting activities abroad must not end with the promotion for the sale of products only."

"Commercial activities can also be developed for the so-called systems engineers. Although they are not manufacturers, they engineer and assemble finished components of other brands by putting their know-how on the field and offering "turnkey" services. In this way it will be possible to capture the interest of the multinationals of the fire-fighting sector present in Italy who could have business opportunities even on markets that should be the responsibility of the foreign offices of the same companies through system integrators”.

To develop training in firefighting

As regards the supply chain activities, the new president intends to verify the possibility of creating within the association a chain of professions that can cover all the roles and activities to make a complete fire service to users. It can be achieved by considering 4 sections:

Fire risk analysts; engineering and plant companies; product companies; training company.

To develop the training sector, Roberto Borraccino underlines the need to develop training in firefighting, from the low-risk course to the highly specialized course. Uman is already active in training the profession of maintainers.
