The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) created the Volunteer Firefighter Support Fund to help volunteer first responders in the aftermath of devastating events.
Over the past few months, many areas in the U.S. have been affected by severe storms, tornadoes, flooding, and other natural disasters. Many communities rely on volunteer first responders when natural disasters such as these strike. However, often the homes and property of these first responders are also affected by these disasters. The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) created the Volunteer Firefighter Support Fund to help volunteer first responders in the aftermath of these devastating events.
The Volunteer Firefighter Support Fund provides a stipend of $250 to volunteer first responders whose homes have been impacted by a state- or federally-declared disaster. The stipend helps these firefighters and emergency personnel meet their basic needs in the aftermath of the disaster.
Volunteer emergency responders affected by a disaster can go to this website to find out if you qualify for assistance through the Fund and access the application. The impacting event must be a state- or federally-declared disaster; view the listing of federally-declared disasters here.
