Wireless solutions provider Ramtech has announced the appointment of a new business unit director Alan Middup to lead its ongoing expansion into international fire safety and security markets.

Having completed a trainee program at Halma plc, Ramtech's parent company, and risen to become global operations director at Sentric Safety Group, Alan is well equipped to continue elevating the role innovative wireless safety and security solutions play in solving global site protection challenges.

Roles and responsibilities

As a business unit director, Alan will use his chartered mechanical engineer background to support sustainable business growth and other managerial responsibilities to continually invest in Ramtech’s people, products, and solutions in the UK, North America, and the Middle East.

Alan said, “Ramtech has a strong innovation pipeline, and growth into multiple new markets is on the horizon, which is an exciting period for the business. In this new role, my initial focus will be to build on these objectives by working closely with the sales teams and spending time with our valued customers in all our key regions.”

Creating solutions

We see how connected solutions, new hardware possibilities, and avenues can benefit the changing world"

I look forward to meeting this challenge head-on and creating solutions quickly while accelerating how our existing offerings can be improved through research and development. We continue to see how connected solutions, new hardware possibilities, and avenues for partnership across many different sectors can benefit a rapidly changing world. The challenge is to keep adding value and to lead the way."

"Positioning myself between many of the different commercial and innovation teams that have made Ramtech the established name that it is today will be imperative to our ongoing company success.”

Wireless technology solutions

Alan’s arrival follows former managing director Andy Hicks, who spent 17 successful years at Ramtech, moving into a consultative role until the end of quarter one in 2023.

Providing wireless technology solutions for only the UK caravan and leisure industry when he joined the business, Ramtech has developed new offerings to confidently move into the construction and industrial sectors across 30 countries under Andy’s stewardship.

Collaborations

Ramtech recently announced it would be working alongside businesses Argus and Hyfire to form The Orama Group. This example of collaboration between wireless solutions providers made possible through the Halma Group’s ownership and investment is something Ramtech will continue to support, as championed by the new director throughout his time at Halma.

Alan will be based at Ramtech’s Nottingham HQ, which has been in the city since its inception 33 years ago. Ramtech turns over £12 million annually, employs 70 people, and operates in 30 geographies across the globe.
