Pierce Manufacturing Inc., an Oshkosh Corporation company, has announced that it will be displaying a broad array of apparatus, new technology demonstrations, investments made in product support, and more during the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) International 2019 event slated to take place from April 11 – 13, 2019 in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA.

Pierce’s FDIC presence will exemplify the theme: Deserve Better. Serve Better. Attendees will be able to get a glimpse first-hand of Pierce’s high-tech equipment and solutions at the display located in the north end zone of Lucas Oil Stadium.

Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the full breadth of Pierce products and services while hearing about the latest innovations and features available in the design of fire apparatus and aftermarket offerings. Other display highlights will include, but are not limited to:

Pierce Situational Awareness System

Securing a scene is an essential factor for firefighters during on-call operations

Pierce Situational Awareness System by Fotokite: Securing a scene is an essential factor for firefighters during on-call operations. The new Pierce Situational Awareness System by Fotokite is an actively tethered aerial device that can be deployed from any apparatus and is retrofittable with apparatus currently in service.

With a focus on increased response effectiveness, this tool is the industry’s only aerial situational awareness system that tethers to the fire apparatus and hard-wires into the vehicle system – so there’s no need for a piloting license or certificate of authorization, and no battery life limitations to work around. Pierce’s indoor and outdoor FDIC booths will offer displays and periodic demonstrations to showcase how the actively tethered aerial device will enable better response times and increased situational awareness.

Extensive Scope of Apparatus and Service Innovations: The latest chassis designs, pump panels, aerial configurations, electrical systems, corrosion protection and carcinogen reduction will be on display allowing attendees to have a hands-on experience with Pierce’s broad scope of apparatus innovations. Pierce’s FDIC exhibit will incorporate apparatus representing regions across North America and will demonstrate many unique needs of fire departments.

Dealer Network and Aftermarket Services: Twenty-six dealerships strong, Pierce’s network and aftermarket services cover all of North America. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with and have their questions answered by one of the most educated and experienced sales and service teams in the world. Pierce’s aftermarket service specialists will feature product support capabilities and enhanced rapid part delivery services.

Market-disrupting apparatus equipment

In recent years, we’ve introduced market-disrupting apparatus that address voice of customer feedback and have set benchmarks for performance in the industry,” said Mike Dufrane, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Pierce Manufacturing.

Our team stands behind the belief that those in the fire service deserve a premier apparatus to serve their communities best. Pierce’s FDIC exhibit will show the breadth of innovation that spans across our product and service platforms and how these advancements have supported, and will continue to support, the unique needs of firefighters in the lifesaving work they do each day.”  The annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at FDIC is a remembrance of the sacrifices made by FDNY firefighters"

Show attendees are encouraged to attend the opening announcement taking place on Thursday, April 11th, 2019 in Pierce’s central core location near the entrance of Lucas Oil Stadium (booth #8807). Also, on Friday, April 12th, 2019, the Pierce booth at Lucas Oil Stadium will host the opening ceremony for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb event.

9/11 Memorial Stair Climb

The 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb is a way for attendees to honor and remember those in the fire service community who selflessly gave their lives, so others might live. Last year, more than 700 participants paid tribute by climbing or walking the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center.

Dufrane further said, “Each tribute during the annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at FDIC is a remembrance of the sacrifice made by an FDNY firefighter, as climbers symbolically complete their heroic journey to save others. It’s inspiring to see such an incredible representation of event attendees take part in supporting the NFFF each year by honoring their fallen brothers and sisters.”
