Open Security & Safety Alliance (OSSA) was formed in late 2018 with the aim to reduce market fragmentation and friction across the physical and cloud-based security markets.

Founding members of the Open Security & Safety Alliance include Bosch Building Technologies, Hanwha Techwin, Milestone Systems, Pelco, and VIVOTEK Inc. These technology solutions and security companies recognize the need to align, collaborate and gather others, in order to progress and truly capitalize on the potential of the Internet of Things (IoT).

Importance of connectivity

Security and safety products must connect and interoperate as organizations cannot flourish in a connected world without connecting. They have to step outside brands and agree to design leveraging important commonalities to collectively evolve our market.

Starting with a level-playing field allows companies of varying sizes to contribute and helps everyone to achieve an appealing and productive experience with security/safety systems, services, and devices.

Vendor-agnostic OS for security and safety market

OSSA member companies are creating the first common Technology Stack specification

OSSA member companies are creating the first common Technology Stack specification and defining a common and vendor-agnostic operating system (OS) for the security and safety market. Together, these will fuel the development of value-added solutions as organizations focus more on imagining and innovating at the application level.

This drive for unity first, differentiation second is what’s attracting forward-looking industry players to the Open Security & Safety Alliance. Commitment to a common platform and an agreed-upon approach will propel the entire market forward.

IFSEC 2019
