Nittan Europe announce the publishing of Technical Guidance Sheets (TGS) No. 21, 22 and 23.

TGS-21

Issues Concerning HYBRID BS 5839 Part1 & Part6 Systems in HMOs.

TGS-21 addresses growing concerns surrounding the installation of fire safety systems in House of Multiple Occupation (HMOs).

In recent years, there has been a tendency for system designers to advise landlords and building owners to specify ‘hybrid’ systems – installing BS 5839 Part1 (Fire detection and fire alarm systems for buildings. Code of practice for design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of systems in non-domestic premises) system in communal areas with BS 5839 Part 6 (Code of practice for design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of systems in domestic premises) devices in the accommodation areas.

False alarm prevention

This trend has been followed to satisfy the industry’s major demand for false alarm prevention and cost save implications. However, by examining these concerns, Nittan Europe have reached a conclusion that a full Part 1 system using the appropriate equipment and programing can provide a much more comprehensive and effective fire alarm system which in the long term will also be more cost-effective.

TGS-22: Evo+ 5000 System Design Checks

TGS-22 aims to highlight the fact that all Nittan Evo+5000 control panels have a limit of 1000 points per processor. This would never be a problem on the single loop and is unlikely to be an issue on the two-loop version, however, looking at the system as a whole, it could be a concern on the four and eight loop panels.

The document clarifies the difference between the terms ‘points’ and ‘addresses’ when designing and programming systems and what this means when considering panel capacity. It also contains a list introducing the number of points used in Nittan devices.

To ensure the Evo+ 5000 control panel points limit has not been exceeded in one’s system, one can download TGS-22 from the company’s website.

TGS-23: Evolution Addressable Obsolete Products

TGS-23 summarizes devices from Evolution Addressable product range, Nittan has recently made obsolete, either due to component obsolescence, or because they have been superseded by an upgraded model.

The list includes replacements for the obsolete devices, along with part codes and any necessary measures required to install them, such as firmware update.
