Hands-on training meets NFPA extrication guidelines

In late September the Northeastern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy (NIPSTA) will host the state-approved Vehicle/Machinery-Technician Level program for firefighters who have successfully completed the Operations Level training.

This advanced curriculum meets the guidelines of NFPA 1006 and NFPA 1670. Scenario-based instruction is provided on trucks, buses, automobiles, and large machinery.

Students utilize stabilization devices and extrication equipment in response to extreme circumstances that require victim rescue and recovery.

Furthermore, the Incident Command System will be employed during the forty hours of training scheduled for September 28 - October 2, 2009.

Tuition fees are discounted 25 percent for NIPSTA members.
