The National Fire Protect Association (NFPA) launched its 125th Anniversary Quiz Sweepstakes to test participants’ knowledge of the association, and to celebrate the collective work, energy, and commitment of the countless groups and individuals who have contributed to the association’s achievements over the past 125 years.

In honor of NFPA’s birthday (the association was founded in November 1896), the quiz features 10 questions that address NFPA history, milestones, and resources.

Thanking the people for their support

Through all the changes and advancements in protecting people and property from fire, electrical, and other hazards over the past 125 years, the one constant has been the tireless energy and dedication of countless people and organizations who have helped – and continue to make – the world a safer place,” said Lorraine Carli, NFPA Vice President of Outreach and Advocacy.

NFPA began advancing safety in an industrialized nation by developing standards

The NFPA 125thAnniversary Quiz presents a fun opportunity to recognize and thank them for their passion and efforts.

Anyone who takes the quiz will automatically be entered into sweepstakes. Two hundred randomly selected winners will receive an NFPA 125thAnniversary challenge coin. The quiz can be taken now through November 30.

NFPA's growth ladder

While NFPA began advancing safety in a newly industrialized nation by developing standards to help solve challenges with sprinklers and electrical systems, the NFPA standards development process has evolved and grown significantly since then.

Now, volunteers from 42 countries fill more than 9,000 NFPA technical committee seats and produce over 325 consensus codes and standards; 40,000 members look to the organization for relevant resources and technical expertise.

In addition to its standards development process, NFPA continues to provide information and knowledge through research, public education, training, digital solutions, and more.
