Fire and Rescue Services across the country will once again be assisting with the national vaccination program, following the government’s push to offer everyone aged over 18 a booster jab by the end of the year.

To date, almost half a million vaccinations have been given by fire and rescue service staff – and hundreds of thousands of hours spent on setting up centers and helping to run them.

Fire and rescue service staff have been assisting with the vaccinations since the start of the year – and will now increase their efforts to help keep the public safe.

Assistance for vaccination

It displays how flexible, dedicated, professional, and passionate the staff are in protecting the communities

Praising the incredible work of the UK fire and rescue service, the National Fire Chiefs Council’s (NFCC) Chair Mark Hardingham, said: “Staff from fire services across the country have been assisting with the COVID response since day one and will now be increasing their work on vaccinations."

It once again goes to show how flexible, dedicated, professional, and passionate staff are in protecting the communities they serve.

Around 70 percent of services have been asked to assist with the vaccination drive and fully trained staff from many FRSs are actively giving the vaccinations.

Making the locals proud

Mr. Hardingham added: “The fire service across the breadth of the country are ready, willing, and able to assist. NFCC has agreed with the government we will offer this support to get the country through this difficult time and support this vital work to get everyone eligible vaccinated by the end of the year - just over two weeks away. I am in no doubt the public is proud of their local services as they once again step up to play their part."

NFCC is also encouraging as many people as possible to ensure they take up vaccinations in a bid to keep themselves and loved ones safe while helping to protect the NHS.
