The Elsberry Fire Protection District in Elsberry, Missouri has added additional firefighting power to its fleet with the arrival of two new Toyne apparatus. The pumper and pumper tanker will allow the department to expand its firefighting capabilities. The Elsberry Fire Protection District covers 110 square miles in eastern Missouri.

Pumper features

Toyne built Elsberry’s pumper tanker and pumper on Spartan Metro Star chassis. Containing the power of Cummins ISL9 450 horsepower engines and Allison 3000 EVS transmissions, the apparatus brings added power and maneuverability to the department. Both fire trucks feature a Waterous CS 1,250 gallon-per-minute pump. The pumper tanker includes a Fire Research PumpBoss pressure governor, and the pumper utilizes the command of a Fire Research InControl 400 pressure governor.

The new pumper has a formidable UPF 1,500-gallon tank, while the pumper tanker brings more heft with its 2,500-gallon UPF tank. Each apparatus is stocked with firefighting tools; including a FoamPro 2002 Class A foam system, Fire Research telescoping lights, and the flexibility of an XFT-NJ monitor with an 18-inch extension.

Offering Emergency Response

Located near the Illinois border, the Elsberry Fire Protection District has 15 volunteers and operates out of two stations to protect northeastern Lincoln and southeastern Pike county. Led by fire chief Kevin Hailey, the department offers fire and emergency medical responses to around 4,500 residents.

We were proud to build these two strong and versatile apparatus for all of the brave firefighters in Elsberry,” said Michael Schwabe, president, and CEO of Toyne, Inc. “This pumper and pumper tanker will have a strong impact in their community, and allow the department to bring a higher level of safety to the area.”
