mGive, the leading mobile donation platform provider in the United States, and its 501(c)(3) partner, The mGive Foundation, today announced they will launch the "text FIRE to 27722" mobile donation campaign to raise funds for the Boulder County Firefighters Association. "We're deeply saddened by the loss of homes and the impact the fire has had on local residents," says Dan Eamon, President of the Boulder County Firefighters Association who has been working in the Incident Command Post since the early hours of the fire. "Many of our firefighter friends have lost their homes. I know this fund will help these firefighters and their families who have experienced a compounded loss."
The Fourmile Canyon wildfire has burned over 6,300 acres and forced the mandatory evacuation of more than 3,000 residents living in the steep, rugged and heavily forested foothills west of the City of Boulder. Teams are on site to catalog burned structures and to investigate the fire's cause and origin. More than 500 firefighters, from at least 35 local, regional and national agencies are working to contain the active fire. Five air tankers, three helicopters and 24 engines have joined the effort. Currently, the homes of at least nine firefighters have been lost while they were battling the inferno and numerous others have been displaced by the evacuation. Additionally, multiple fire stations have been destroyed and numerous others damaged.
"Over 500 firefighters are risking their lives to save the lives of others in their community," said James Eberhard, chairman and founder of mGive. "Please take action by texting FIRE to 27722 to donate $10 and help us support the unsung heroes protecting our communities and lives."
"Together, through mobile micro donations we can make a difference in the lives of those battling the blaze," said Jenifer Snyder, Executive Director of The mGive Foundation. "We have established a simple yet effective way to provide immediate aid through text message donations. Please join us in our effort to support the firefighters in our community."
