The Cassa Provinciale in the autonomous province of Trento ordered L32A aerial ladders
Metz Aerials will supply aerial ladders with retractable cage boom to Italy

Metz Aerials has recently chalked up another noteworthy success story in Italy.

The Cassa Provinciale in the autonomous province of Trento (Italy) ordered L32A three aerial ladders with a retractable cage boom and a working height of 32 m from aerial ladder manufacturer Metz Aerials for the fire departments of Trentino.

The contract, which was signed in January 2010 in the provincial capital of Trento, was preceded by substantial sales activities by local Rosenbauer representatives, Brandschutz GmbH in Andrian, and Metz Aerials sales staff. What finally convinced the fire fighters in Trentino was not just the cost efficiency of the product on offer, but the aerial ladder technology and excellent documentation by the Rosenbauer group's aerial ladder specialists in Karlsruhe.

The Trento professional fire department and the Arco volunteer fire department will each receive a L32A on a Mercedes-Benz Econic 2633 L/NLA 6x2/4 chassis with automatic transmission and a wheelbase of 3,900+1,350 mm. Another volunteer fire department in the province can look forward to the L 32A on a MAN TGS 18.440 4x4 BB chassis with all-wheel drive, manual transmission and a wheelbase of 4,500 mm. All vehicles are powered by environmentally friendly EURO 5 diesel engines. The L32A aerial superstructure by Metz Aerials is identical on all three vehicles: the standard aluminum safety podium is mounted on the chassis.

A full range of equipment enhances the vehicles' operational punch:

  • Reversing camera with display in the cabin
  • Wind speed measuring device in the cage
  • Camera in the rescue cage floor with readout on the main control panel display
  • Lifting attachment on the front of the rescue page for a payload of 150 kg
  • 3 CEE 230 V sockets and on CEE 400 V socket in the rescue cage
  • Electro-hydraulic 400 V emergency operation of the aerial ladder
  • Metz/Alco HH365 monitor
  • Rosenbauer RS14 generator with 14 kVA output and electric starter
  • Dual folding stretcher in line with DIN 13024
  • Oscillation damping
  • Target memory system
  • Aluminum tubing from the foot of the top ladder section to the tip of the cage boom
