Apollo Fire Detectors is celebrating 40 years of business success, having expanded from a 13-strong workforce operating out of small commercial units on the south coast of England to becoming one of the world's pioneering manufacturers of fire detection solutions for commercial and industrial applications, manufacturing more than 5 million detectors every year, and exporting directly to more than 100 countries around the world.

New Products And Protocols

Charles Lombard, Managing Director of Apollo Fire Detectors, shares his views on the company’s strengths and its impact on the industry over the past 40 years. “We are extremely proud to be celebrating our 40th anniversary. It is a huge achievement and we are grateful to all our customers, partners, colleagues and suppliers, who are so integral to our business, and its past and future growth and success.

Our quality, reliable products feature in some of the world's best-known buildings"

Over the years, Apollo has played a major role in the development of the industry: investing in R&D to innovate new products and protocols, working alongside industry bodies to enhance regulations and raise standards, providing training and technical resources, and creating a wide range of 'fit and forget' products that keep people safe from fire every day.

Expert Advice, Technical Support

“Our 40 years of experience mean that we can be relied upon for expert advice, technical support and innovative solutions. Our quality, reliable products feature in some of the world's best-known buildings including The Shard, Royal Albert Hall, Tower Bridge, Shanghai Harbour Passenger Terminal and the Statue of Liberty as well as many other office, retail, leisure, education, healthcare, industrial, marine and offshore locations.

“Our UK office boasts our main manufacturing facilities as well as our unique in-house testing, research and product development facilities. We also have offices in China, Dubai, Germany, India and the USA, and a network of partners and distributors on five continents, with R&D facilities based across the world.

Soteria Dimension

A specialist version of the Soteria Dimension is also ideal for mental health and custodial environments"

“We are constantly on top of new legislation, ensuring that we always have a compliant solution for our customers by testing over and above the standards in our in-house fire lab. Our latest example of this is our Soteria UL range designed to comply with the comprehensive UL 268 legislation for smoke detectors.

“We will be celebrating our 40th anniversary with a series of events throughout the year including FIREX where we will be showcasing our latest innovation: Soteria Dimension. This flush-mounted detector is designed for high-end residential and commercial environments with high aesthetic requirements, and also for healthcare environments due to its flat, easy-to-clean surface. A specialist version of the Soteria Dimension is also ideal for mental health and custodial environments, where anti-ligature solutions are often required.

Smart Building Technologies

“Looking to the future, technology has had a huge impact on the development of the industry, and fire detectors will become even more sophisticated and intelligent going forward. We will continue to ensure our products are manufactured to the highest standards, embrace new technologies and evolve alongside other smart building technologies over the next 40 years and beyond.”
