Multi Tier scheme of London Fire Brigade would usher in new revolution for professionals opting for fire services as a career
London Fire Brigade's MTE scheme will break one-point entry into fire services
London Fire Brigade is launching a ground breaking management recruitment campaign designed to tap in top talent from other industries.

The Multi-Tier Entry (MTE) scheme aims to attract high-capability people from different backgrounds to bring in expertise, as well as new leadership and management styles.

Chairman of London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority Brian Coleman AM FRSA said: "This is an exciting and dynamic development, proving once again that London leads the way in modernising the UK Fire and Rescue Service. For the first time talented and experienced people will be able to enter the fire service as operational managers, reinforcing the excellent leadership that already exists within the Brigade and helping us continue delivering the best possible service to Londoners."

The fire service traditionally has only one point entry for uniformed careers, joining the Brigade as a front line firefighter and rising through the ranks, but the MTE programme offers accelerated progression within these operational roles. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to move from firefighter training to station manager in around two years.
