Fire doors are a crucial part of the passive fire protection of every commercial, public and multiple occupancy building. They save lives and property.

Fire safety information and education on this topic is so important and this is why Laidlaw endorses Fire Door Safety Week this September, raising awareness of the critical role of the fire door. With over 3 million new fire doors installed every year, it is surprising that they remain a significant area of neglect. They are often the first thing to be downgraded on a specification and mismanaged throughout their service life, propped open, damaged and also badly maintained.

Spreading fire door awareness

Laidlaw are passionate about the fact that selecting the correct fire door hardware can save lives. It is important to remember that these are not fit and forget products. They encourage building owners and users to check the operation and condition of their fire doors and to report those that aren’t satisfactory.

Only by selecting certified products, ensuring they are installed correctly and with a regular maintenance programme set up, can it be ensured that fire doors always perform correctly and safely.

Laidlaw pride themselves on having the expertise, knowledge and experience to assist in selecting exactly the right fire safety products for any type of project. They are proud to be supporting Fire Door Safety Week campaign which is taking place from 25th September to 1st October 2017.
