New work wear with smart design for Kent firefighters
New workwear is designed to be safer and smarter

Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) staff are to be kitted out in a new uniform which is designed to be safer and smarter.

From 1st November, the workwear set of dark blue shirts and black trousers will be worn by firefighters under their protective fire clothing and when they go out on public duties such as Home Safety Visits.

The uniform is part of a new four year contract and represents a saving through collaboration with eight other Fire and Rescue Services across the South East region.

Assistant Director Sean Bone-Knell says: “A much smarter KFRS will be out-and-about in the community and all our staff, from the Chief Fire Officer to the firefighter on the ground, will be wearing the same uniform and will be easily identifiable. The new kit is fit for purpose, practical in design and ensures our firefighters portray a smart image of the Fire and Rescue Service."

KFRS’s previous workwear contract was coming to an end so the new four year agreement was signed with clothing suppliers Hunters Apparel Solutions LTD after a tendering process led by Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Sean Bone-Knell added: “Members of the public see our staff at many different community events and this change of uniform will ensure our staff are easily recognisable. If the public ever have any doubts about the identity of a firefighter, they can be assured that our staff carry identity cards at all times which should be requested if they are ever unsure as to an individual’s identity.”
