ISSEE has had its core training courses endorsed by the Institute of Explosive Engineers (IExpE), including Explosive Ordnance Disposal Levels 1-3, Improvised Explosive Device Disposal, Counter-Terrorist Search, and many more.

IExpE endorsement highlights the academic rigor of ISSEE’s training program. As an endorsed center their courses have been externally verified by the IExpE, checking that there are policies and procedures in place to ensure safe and effective training. It demonstrates to potential learners that course content has been technically vetted by the professional body for the sector.

Explosives industry standards

The IExpE aims to be the organization that establishes and oversees National Occupational Standards for the Explosives Industry. Their goal is to raise explosives industry standards and encourage liaison between like-minded professional colleagues from individuals to industry experts, as well as supporting members’ professional development.

The Institute provides ISSEE students with one year's student membership of the IExpEIExpE endorsement for ISSEE’s courses, in addition to the opportunity to attain qualifications accredited by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA), helps students to further their professional development by assigning mentors, listing job opportunities and providing links to education providers among other resources. On successful completion of a course, the Institute provides ISSEE students with one year's student membership of the Institute of Explosives Engineers as part of their training, giving them the opportunity to use the IExpE forum that enables and promotes consultation between individuals, professional private organizations, government departments and experts within the explosives industry.

Dave Welch, President of the Institute of Explosives Engineers, said: “We are delighted to add ISSEE to our growing list of endorsed training course providers. The availability of professional training is a crucial aspect in ensuring the ongoing and future capability within the energetics sector and the range of courses offered by ISSEE provides opportunities for training across a number of specialist areas.”
