IFEDA, the Independent Fire Engineering & Distributors Association, is delighted to announce the introduction of a new course, Understanding a Fire Risk Assessment. The Fire Safety Order 2005 requires that the Responsible Person in a business must have a fire risk assessment in place.

British Standard 5306 parts 3 and 8 stipulate that a fire extinguisher servicing technician must confirm the presence of, and check the contents of, a company’s fire risk assessment. This course has been driven by demand from servicing technicians looking to increase their skill set, and gain a deeper understanding of fire risk assessments, to enable them to undertake their role competently.

CPD-accredited, fire safety training courses

Understanding a Fire Risk Assessment course has CPD accreditation from The CPD Certification Service

Understanding a Fire Risk Assessment course has CPD accreditation from The CPD Certification Service. This course is an addition to IFEDA’s comprehensive, CPD-accredited, fire safety industry training courses.

The Understanding a Fire Risk Assessment course has been specifically developed to provide servicing technicians with the skills to know what to look for, and importantly, identify any gaps in a company’s fire risk assessment. The course also covers key elements of what must be covered in a fire risk assessment, and provides an awareness of current fire safety legislation.

Fire risk assessment

Graham Ferris, General Manager at IFEDA, commented, “IFEDA has received many enquiries to introduce a course which would explain the process of a fire risk assessment and the resulting contents. Something that would also provide servicing technicians with an insight is on how to identify any concerns within a fire risk assessment.

Graham adds, “The introduction of this new course meets these needs, and I’m pleased that we have been able to introduce this course in response to demand. With CPD accreditation, this course complements the existing IFEDA courses, and continues to meet IFEDA’s aim of raising quality standards within the fire protection industry.

Fire maintenance technician course

The course is suitable for fire maintenance technicians, owners and managers of fire protection companies, fire safety offices, landlords, and those designated as the responsible person in their place of work.
