Huntingdon firefighters are responding from their new station having completed moving on the morning of Wednesday 1 February 2023.

Firefighters took the final drive from the station on their nightshift, before handing over to the day crew who started their first shift from the station, with the on-call crew following shortly after.

state-of-the-art station

The new state-of-the-art station is located at 7 Percy Road in Huntingdon, just off the A141, and is staffed 24/7 by wholetime firefighters along with an on-call crew.

Adjoining the station is the Service’s new Training Centre. The Operational Support Group, Health and Safety team and Occupational Health team will also be based at the station. As of Thursday 2 February 2023, the current site (Hartford Road) will close its doors for the final time.

Deputy Chief Executive, Matthew Warren commented, “It’s a momentous day for the project as firefighters move into, and respond to 999 calls from the new fire station."

A huge thanks must go to all those involved in getting the development to where it is today, we now have a first-class fire station and training center that will provide an excellent facility for our colleagues.”

Recruitment

The Service is still recruiting for more on-call firefighters to join the on-call crew at Huntingdon. The Service is keen to hear from people who are looking to do more in their community, live within five minutes of Percy Road, and have a reasonable level of fitness.

Being an on-call firefighter is a paid role and our firefighters receive full and ongoing training for the job, supported by their team members. To become an on-call firefighter, you must be aged 18 and over, have a good level of all-around fitness, and live or work within five minutes of traveling time of an on-call fire station.
